A Message from Our Principal

Happy Spring!

The month of March is here and full of fun and exciting events. We begin this month by celebrating Dr. Seuss. We will be holding our family reading night from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on March 1. Make plans to join us to play reading bingo and other word games, making bookmarks, and stories under the stars in a STAR lab. We will enter students attending with their parents in the door prizes drawing that will take place at the flag pole ceremony on March 9.

Our 3rd quarter ends on March 9 since we have parent-teacher conferences on March 15 and 16. Our spring break follows on March 19-23. We will have three early dismissal days in a row: March 14 is a teacher in-service day, and March 15 and 16 are parent-teacher conferences. Your student’s teacher will be sending home conference notes soon. Please check backpacks daily.

The month of March brings the beginning of state assessments. Arizona state science test for fourth graders will be on March 26 for Ms. Pitner's class and on March 27 for Ms. Vargas's class. On March 28 we will be celebrating our students at our third quarter awards in our multi-purpose room. Grades 4-6 are at 9:00 a.m. and grades k-3 are at 1:00 p.m. The next day we will take our students who have earned perfect attendance for the 3rd quarter to the district auditorium for a movie and popcorn! March 30 - April 2 is Easter break. The testing window for AzMERIT reading and writing begins on April 3 through April 28. All 3rd through 6th grade students will be taking the state assessment online. The AzMERIT math assessment will begin on April 3.

This is the time of year when we all need to be proactive when it comes to the cold and flu season. We encourage students to wash hands, use hand sanitizers, and cover their mouths when they cough. These are all the ways to help keep our students healthy.

With so many events happening this month be sure and keep the newsletter close and review the “Important Dates” often so you and your student are sure not to miss anything.

Sincerely,

Katy Wilkins
